Trauma Informed Resilience Training

Building Resilience

In times of crisis, disaster and prolonged stress

Resilience: The capacity to recover quickly from difficulties

In times of crisis or disaster, people are at risk of experiencing psychological trauma and severe prolonged stress. The lasting implications can be serious and enduring. Emotionally, people can find themselves cycling between high intensity emotions then falling into numbness, isolation and despair. Left untreated, this cycle of chronic stress or accumulated trauma can lead to the onset of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or physical health problems related to prolonged stress. Learning how to manage and modulate the extended stress response is essential.

People who have well-regulated nervous systems are resilient. They have the ability to cope with change, think critically and creatively, and demonstrate emotional, behavioral and mental flexibility. With the current pandemic wreaking havoc around the globe, the ability of people to naturally cope is being greatly challenged. When individuals suffer, so does their larger sphere of influence. When whole communities are suffering, the tentacles of distress are greatly magnified. Ameliorating individual human distress is a key component to healing on a systems level.

That's where the Trauma Informed Resilience Training program comes in. It is an educational training that teaches  skills that are evidenced-based, practical, and life affirming. Grounded in neuroscience, the self-regulation and mindfulness skills are easy to learn and a valuable mode of self-care for all ages. It is delivered in a group format and can be done via video conference.
